About

Alexander Bukreev was born in the USSR in Moscow suburbs, 1972. Since 2006 until now  he is living and working in China. He self studied drawing and painting in school age. Resumed his artistic work in the fall of 2013.

Fascinated by the Buddhist philosophy, he traveled to the holy places of China.

In 2013 he visited buddhist Wutai mountains in Shanxi provence and was inspired by this powerful space. In these mountains, he was visited by the idea to resume his studies in painting.

After the first pilgrimage he drew several paintings devoted to Wutai mountains. And after the second visit to the mountains in the autumn of the same year, a series of five paintings «Five peaks of Wutai» was made. Those paintings were shown and sold in an art-gallery «Dacha» in Moscow, Russia. The gallery still collaborates with the artist.

Almost all of Alexander’s paintings are created with the use of palette knife and acrylic paint on canvas. Brushes are insignificantly used in some of the paintings. Lately, the artist works primarily with acrylic paint, as this material allows to create multiple layers on some relief on the canvas, letting the artist use his peculiar palette knife technique.
